In 1912, 27 years old civil engineer Heinrich Hirdes founded a building company in Duisburg. First tasks were municipal water supply and drainage systems as well as excavation and foundation works.
Previous to the war, specialization on hydraulic engineering began and was continued after World War II.
Today the Heinrich Hirdes GmbH is one of the leading German companies in hydraulic engineering with headquarters in Hamburg and branches in Bremen, Kiel and Rostock.
